The British Broadcasting Corporation is an international multimedia broadcaster on radio, TV,
digital and social networks with a weekly global audience of 320 million. As part of an
unprecedented expansion of BBC Africa – the home of all the BBC’s African language services –
the BBC World Service is increasing its digital operation for our Great Lakes audience. The BBC
Great Lakes Service focus is to create world-class digital content that makes sense of news and
events in the Great Lakes region for our local and global audiences through publishing content
online and on social media platforms, alongside producing radio news and current affairs
programmes from London.
We’re looking for a creative and dynamic Digital Journalist to join our friendly and growing team
in Nairobi. Amongst other tasks the post holder will create digital content in multiple formats,
text, images, audio, video and to treat and promote digital content on our various websites and
social platforms to service the needs of our passionate audience. You will produce accurate,
informed and interesting news and current affairs, social and cultural content to the highest
You will have excellent written and spoken Kinyarwanda and English along with an outstanding
understanding of the digital market in the Great Lakes region and a track record of producing
quality content, and proven editorial judgment.
